Distribution: Canada: AB, NT, YT; USA: WA. Similar Species: 2856 Olethreutes costimaculana Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: • Paedisca externa Eversmann, 1844 • Selenodes dalecarliana Guenée, 1845 Taxonomic Notes: Argyroploce externa (Eversmann, 1844) was first recognized within the North American fauna north of Mexico under its synonym, 2831.1 A. dalecarliana, by Jalava and Miller (1998). This synonymy was made by Nedoshivina (2007), Nota Lepidopterologica 30 (1): 100.
