Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Salicaceae.  Host genera: Populus.  Host extended: miner (Newton & Wilkinson 1982).  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: populetorum (Frey & Boll, 1878) (Nepticula) - MONA 1983: 84 aromella Wilkinson & Scoble, 1979 (Stigmella) N. SYN. - MONA 1983: [85] Taxonomic Notes: Stigmella populetorum (Frey & Boll, 1878) includes as a synonym Stigmella aromella Wilkinson & Scoble, 1979 (van Nieukerken & Eiseman in Pohl & Nanz (eds.) 2023).
