- All identifications in the genus Parornix should be considered tentative including those that were dissected or DNA barcoded. An unpublished work by Don Davis includes illustrations of genitalia, presumably based on type specimens, for all species. Using that as a guide reveals that many past descriptions and keys cannot be applied with confidence.
- Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.)

- Barcode of Life (BOLD) - Caution: Identifications often erroneous; DNA barcode provides evidence of relatedness, not proof of identification; many specimens not sequenced.
