Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Rosaceae.  Host genera: Malus.  Host extended: bores into twigs (Noma et al 2010b).  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: atra (Haworth, 1828) (Recurvaria) - MONA 1983: [NEW] putripennella (Zeller, 1839) (Elachista) Taxonomic Notes: Blastodacna atra Haworth, 1828 is now recognized within the North American fauna north of Mexico.
