Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Poaceae.  Host genera: Phragmites.  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: acutellus (Eversmann, 1842) (Chilo) - MONA 1983: [NEW] sinensellus (Walker, 1863) (Crambus) acutellus (Eversmann, 1842) (Chilo)  cilialis (Herrich-Schäffer, 1849) (Duponchelia)  tincticostellus (Walker, 1863) (Crambus) Taxonomic Notes: Sclerocona acutellus: Sclerocona acutella is now recognized among the North American fauna north of Mexico.
