Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Betulaceae Fagaceae Juglandaceae Malvaceae[Tiliaceae] Rosaceae.  Host genera: Carya Castanea Corylus Prunus Quercus Tilia.  Host extended: Cucumis(?) Zea mays(?) (Kimball 1965).  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: stigma (Fabricius, 1775) (Bombyx) - MONA 1983: 7716 stygma (Boisduval, 1872) (Adelocephala) Taxonomic Notes: Anisota stigma (Fabricius, 1775) includes as a subspecies Anisota stigma fuscosa Ferguson, 1971, MONA Fascicle 20.2a: 67. Burke & Peigler (2009) treat fuscosa as a full species.
