Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Asteraceae.  Host genera: Baccharis.  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: varadaria (Walker, 1860) (Caberodes) - MONA 1983: 6314 abbreviata (Walker, 1863) (Aspilates) donataria (Walker, 1863) (Aspilates) florida (Hulst, 1896) (Diastictis) inaptata Walker, 1861 (Macaria) Taxonomic Notes: Macaria varadaria (Walker, 1860), formerly placed in the genus Itame in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist) and in the genus Speranza in Ferguson (2008), is returned to genus Macaria in Sihvonen & Skou (2015) following Scoble & Krüger (2002).
