Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Ericaceae Myricaceae.  Host genera: Myrica Vaccinium.  Host extended: buds & blossoms, later leaves (Averill & Sylvia 1998).  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: sulphurea (Packard, 1873) (Eupistheria) - MONA 1983: 6283 olivalis (Hulst, 1898) (Diastictis) sulphuraria (Packard, 1876) (Thamnonoma) emend.; TL: (no type). Taxonomic Notes: Macaria sulphurea (Packard, 1873), formerly placed in the genus Itame in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist) and in the genus Speranza in Ferguson (2008), is returned to genus Macaria in Sihvonen & Skou (2015) following Scoble & Krüger (2002).
