Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Sapindaceae.  Host genera: Acer.  Host extended: polyphagous on trees & shrubs (Forbes 1948); leaves (Wagner et al 2001).  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: pustularia (Guenée, [1858]) (Stegania) - MONA 1983: 6273 Taxonomic Notes: Macaria pustularia (Guenée, [1858]), formerly placed in the genus Itame in Hodges et al. (1983) (Checklist) and in the genus Speranza in Ferguson (2008), is returned to genus Macaria in Sihvonen & Skou (2015) following Scoble & Krüger (2002).
