Distribution: Eastern US and Canada with specimens identified from photos from AB and BC. Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Dennstaedtiaceae Pteridaceae.  Host genera: Pteridium Pteris.  Notes: ferns (Wagner et al 2001).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: fritillaria (Guenée, [1858]) (Numeria) - MONA 1983: 6812; TL: USA. disconventa (Walker, 1860) (Tephrosia) - MONA 1983: [6813]; Lectotype: Trenton Falls, New York, USA; Nova Scotia, Canada. immersata (Walker, 1862) (Ypsipetes); TL: St. Martin's Falls, Albany River, Hudson Bay [“Martin’s Falls”, ON; 51.30N, 86.20W]; New York [USA]; East Florida [USA]. lactispargaria (Walker, 1861) (Cidaria) - MONA 1983: [6811]; TL: Sixteen Island Lake [Quebec, Canada?]. Taxonomic Notes: Homochlodes fritillaria (Guenée, [1858]) includes as synonym Homochlodes lactispargaria (Walker, 1861) and Homochlodes disconventa (Walker, 1860) (Matson & Mcguinness 2023).
