Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Myrsinaceae.  Host genera: Ardisia.  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: paradoxata (Guenée, [1858]) (Byssodes) - MONA 1983: [NEW] paradoxata (Guenée, [1858]) (Byssodes)  argentata of authors; (not Drury, 1773) (Phalaena) misappl. - MONA 1983: [6671]  argenteostriata Holland, 1903 (Phrygionis)  cerussaria (Grote, 1882) (Byssodes)  dominica Prout, 1933 (Phrygionis)  fratercula Warren, 1906 (Phrygionis)  gemmea Prout, 1933 (Phrygionis)  obrussata (Grote, 1882) (Byssodes)  sororcula Warren, 1906 (Phrygionis) Taxonomic Notes: Phrygionis paradoxata (Guenée, [1858]) includes as a synonym Phrygionis argentata of authors (not Drury, 1773). This species was teated as a subspecies of P. incolorata Prout, 1910 by Scoble (1994) but subsequently Scoble (1995) realized that paradoxata is the older name and takes precedent.
