Distribution: USA: OR south to southern CA. - Miller et al. (2021) Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Fagaceae.  Host genera: Castanea Chrysolepis Notholithocarpus[=Lithocarpus] Quercus.  Notes: lists only Quercus (JS Miller 2009a); specialist on evergreen Fagaceae (Crabo et al 2014); exclude Eucalyptus-NOT.  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: californica Packard, 1864 (Phryganidia) - MONA 1983: 8031; TL: San Mateo, CA.
