Distribution: Suggested by Heppner as a species straying into, but not breeding in, Florida. Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Poaceae[none_specified].  Host genera: .none_specified.  Notes: grass (Leckie & Beadle 2018); climbing cutworm on Poaceae (Crabo et al 2014).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: vultuosa (Grote, 1875) (Hadena) - MONA 1983: 9341 ssp. a. vultuosa (Grote, 1875) (Hadena) ssp. b. multicolor (Dyar, 1904) (Hadena) - MONA 1983: [9342] Taxonomic Notes: Apamea vultuosa: Includes as a subspecies Apamea multicolor [9342].
