Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Cyperaceae Iridaceae Poaceae.  Host genera: Carex Iris Scirpus Zea.  Notes: specialist that bores into monocots (Crabo et al 2014); bore in to Stems.  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: reniformis (Grote, 1874) (Luperina) - MONA 1983: 9453 atra Grote, 1874 (Helotropha) insignata (Strand, 1916) ([unknown]) Taxonomic Notes: Helotropha reniformis: Formerly placed in the genus Celaena.
