Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Betulaceae Fagaceae Juglandaceae Oleaceae Rosaceae.  Host genera: Betula Carya Fraxinus Malus Ostrya Prunus Quercus.  Host extended: polyphagous on trees & shrubs (Wagner et al 1997).  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: querquera Grote, 1874 (Lithophane) - MONA 1983: 9904 nigrescens (Engel, 1905) (Xylina) - MONA 1983: [9921] Taxonomic Notes: Lithophane querquera: Includes as a synonym Lithophane nigrescens [9921].
