Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Betulaceae Elaeagnaceae Rosaceae Salicaceae.  Host genera: Alnus Amelanchier Betula Populus Salix Shepherdia.  Notes: in the Pacific Northwest,may be a specialist on Populus tremuloides (Crabo et al 2014).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. Synonymy: contacta (Walker, 1856) (Acronycta) - MONA 1983: 9564 ssp. a. contacta (Walker, 1856) (Acronycta); TL: Adirondack Mts., NY.  aspera (Morrison, 1875) (Acronycta)  diffusilis (Harvey, 1878) (Polia)  extincta (Smith, 1900) (Polia) - MONA 1983: [9573]  sansar (Strecker, 1898) (Polia) - MONA 1983: [9566] ssp. b. pulverulenta (Smith, 1891) (Polia) Taxonomic Notes: Andropolia contacta: Includes as synonyms Anropolia sansar [9566] and Andropolia extincta [9573].
