Larva and Host Plants: Host familiy: Asteraceae Convolvulaceae.  Host genera: Bidens Convolvulus Heliomeris Viguiera.  (Kimberley & Douglas 2025) Description/ Field Marks: Female darker, especially hind wings; "This species is unique among Lacinipolia in havinga black streak along the inner margin below the basaldash. This character, in combination with the reddishbrown tinge of fore wing, should prove quite diagnostic." (Selman 1975) Similar Species: Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: basiplaga (Smith, 1905) (Mamestra) - MONA 1983: 10396; Lectotype: Huachua Mts., AZ.
