Host familiy: Apiaceae Asteraceae Brassicaceae Cucurbitaceae Poaceae Fabaceae Linaceae Rosaceae Solanaceae.  Host genera: Apium Ambrosia Armoracia Brassica Cucumis Cucurbita Eupatorium Fragaria Helianthus Heterotheca Linum Malus Medicago Nicotiana Phaseolus Pisum Rubus Solanum[=Lycopersicon] Trifolium Triticum Zea.  Notes: many low plants & crops (Beadle & Leckie 2012); climbing cutworm on general herbaceous vegetation (Crabo et al 2014); host plant records unreliable (Lafontaine 2004).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025)
Similar Species:
  • 933502 Feltia tricosa: male have long spinelike setae on each antennae segment which bend toward the apex creating a line parallel to the axis of the antenna. In subgothica, the setae are straighter and more parallel to each other.
