Distribution: Montane and Piedmont, from Quebec to Alberta southward to northern Florida, Montana, Colorado, Mississippi.
Seasonality
and Size:
May - early July. FWL ~ 19-26 mm.

Many host plants include Alnus, Betula, Prunus, Ulmus, Vibernum, Pinus. (see references) -- Host familiy: Betulaceae Adoxaceae[Caprifoliaceae] Celastraceae Cornaceae Cupressaceae Ericaceae Fabaceae Fagaceae Iridaceae Juglandaceae Lauraceae Malvaceae[Tiliaceae] Myricaceae Nyssaceae[Cornaceae] Oleaceae Pina..  Host genera: Abies Acer Alnus Betula Carpinus Carya Celastrus Chamaecyparis Comptonia Cornus Fraxinus Iris Juglans Kalmia Larix Myrica Nyssa Ostrya Physocarpus Picea Pinus Populus Prunus Quercus Robinia Salix Sass...  Notes: polyphagous on wide variety of woody trees and shrubs (Powell & Opler 2009); many other woody plants (Wagner 2005); foliage (Wagner et al 2001).  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025)
