Larva and Host Plants: Ash (Fraxinus sp.). -- Host familiy: Caprifoliaceae Oleaceae.  Host genera: Triosteum Chionanthus Fraxinus.  (Shropshire & Douglas 2025) Similar Species: 931906.1 Sympistis forbesi: larvae feed on feverwort (Triosteum sp.). Adults typically have less white scaling on thorax, costal margin, wing base, and orbicular and reniform spots but identification is unreliable. Pinned specimens of related species. (Hint: select View by Region on the related species page.) Synonymy: chionanthi (Smith, 1797) (Phalaena) - MONA 1983: 10067 Taxonomic Notes: Sympistis chionanthi: Formerly placed in the genus Adita.
